Summary

Nigeria’s LNG dominance is rooted in its vast natural gas reserves over 215 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proven reserves and the infrastructure that enables large-scale monetisation. The country’s LNG industry is anchored by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), which operates six trains with a combined capacity of 22 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The ongoing Train 7 expansion, valued at over $5 billion and now more than 90% complete, will increase capacity to 30 MTPA, cementing Nigeria’s role as Africa’s leading LNG exporter.

Key Messages

  • With over 215 Tcf of proven natural gas reserves, Nigeria has the resource base to sustain long-term LNG production and exports.
  • NLNG Train 7 will significantly expand export capacity.
